FHKI 60th Anniversary Commemorative Book

The 60 th anniversary is special. In Chinese a cycle of 60 years is called a Jiazi ( 甲子 ) which the FHKI has just completed. During this first Jiazi , FHKI founders laid a solid foundation for our growing industries to prosper in Hong Kong. Their efforts included spearheading the founding of other industry supporting institutions, such as the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Hong Kong Shippers’ Council, the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation and the Hong Kong Productivity Council. All these distinguished organisations have formed the backbone of the infrastructure providing crucial support and services to boost the development of the young flourishing industries. To recognise the remarkable achievements attained by our founders and predecessors, this commemorative book is published as a concise record of their contributions made to Hong Kong Industries. This will also be a tribute to those, past and present, who have devoted their wisdom and It is my great honour to have been appointed as Chairman of the 60 th Anniversary Organising Committee. Over the past year, when we met to discuss the celebration activities, we also looked back on Hong Kong’s industrial development as well as the role played by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI). The process of going over old photos and articles is like going through a time tunnel of Hong Kong industry. We have been truly impressed by the commitment and visionary decisions made by our predecessors.
