42 FHKI Annual Report 2013-14 Operational Review // Recognising the Distinguished Hang Seng Pan Pearl River Delta Environmental Awards Entering its sixth year, the Hang Seng Pan Pearl River Delta Environmental Awards attracted 225 manufacturing contestants who implemented a total of 721 environmental projects in 2012-13. This marked a record high since the launch of the awards in 2007. We are delighted to note that many FHKI member companies participated in and successfully attained an award or other forms of recognition under the programme. For instance, Guangdong Esquel Textile Co Ltd, an FHKI member, was conferred with the Gold Award for its outstanding environmental practices. The company has one of the largest waste water treatment plants in China’s textile industry with a processing ability of 38,000 tons of waste water daily.
