32 FHKI Annual Report 2013-14 to enable SMEs in the local environmental industry to leverage on branding to increase their competitiveness. Eco ExpoAsia The eighth edition of Eco Expo Asia held in October 2013 attracted more than 290 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions. Funded by the Environmental Protection Department of the HKSAR and co-organised by the FHKI, the Hong Kong Pavilion was set up for the seventh year at the Expo. A total of 31 Hong Kong environmental enterprises and organisations ran 48 booths at the Pavilion this year to showcase a wide range of environmental technologies, services and products. A Waste Management Corridor was set up at the Pavilion for exhibitors to showcase technologies and solutions for recovery and recycling of wastes. In addition, technologies related to energy efficiency and renewable energy, treatment of polluted air and wastewater, environmental testing and certification, biodegradable materials and recycled products were showcased at the Pavilion. China International Environmental Protection Exhibition&Conference Over 500 exhibitors from 20 countries/regions took part in the 13th edition of China International Environmental Protection Exhibition & Conference in Beijing in July 2013. Funded by the Environmental Protection Department and organised by the FHKI, the Hong Kong Pavilion was set up for the second time in this biennial exhibition. A total of 19 local organisations and enterprises set up 25 booths at the Pavilion to showcase their latest environmental technologies and related products. It provided a platform for environmental groups from different places to make business contacts. A dedicated Meeting and Business Matching Area was set up at the Pavilion to facilitate business networking activities among Hong Kong exhibitors, buyers and other exhibitors. CarbonSmart200 Programme The CarbonSmart Programme is a government-funded programme organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council in collaboration with the FHKI, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the Business Environment Council. Launched in March 2012, the 30-month programme aims to rally support amongst the industrial and commercial sectors to conduct carbon audit and strive for reduction in carbon emission, and to foster synergy between businesses and environmental industries. Under the banner of CarbonSmart200, the campaign is expected to identify and subsidise 200 companies to encourage them to conduct carbon audit as showcases in low-carbon business.
