30 FHKI Annual Report 2013-14 Fostering Sustainable Development 提倡可持續發展 Under the chairmanship of Ir Daniel Cheng who is also Deputy Chairman of the FHKI, the Sustainable Industry Council oversees the “One Factory - One Year – One Environmental Project” Programme (“One-One-One” Programme), 【 Green•Win•Brand 】 Workshops and other environmental projects to ensure the programmes achieve their goals, and to provide technical advice and assistance where necessary. Through close co-operation with the Hong Kong and Guangdong authorities, environmental organisations and other business associations, the Council capitalises on the growing demand for green manufacturing, thus creating business opportunities for industry operators. “One Factory - One Year – One Environmental Project” The FHKI and Hang Seng Bank joined hands to establish the Hang Seng Pearl River Delta Environmental Awards under the “One-One-One” Programme in 2007 to encourage and recognise sound environmental practices adopted by manufacturing enterprises in Hong Kong and the PRD. Starting from 2013, the Awards have been expanded to cover the Pan PRD region. A record high of 225 manufacturing enterprises took part in the Awards in 2012-13, during which they committed a total of 721 environmental projects. Luncheons and factory visits were held following the Awards to share successful stories and benefits in sustainable manufacturing. The 2013-14 Hang Seng Pan Pearl River Delta Environmental Awards has been open for application fromMarch 2014. A new category of recognition – “5 Years+ Entrant” – will be introduced to commend enterprises that have taken part in the Awards for five consecutive years or more. 【 Green • Win • Brand 】 Workshops A series of 12 【 Green•Win•Brand 】 workshops were held from October 2012 to December 2013 to enhance SMEs’ business skills through the application of environmental technology. The workshops covered areas such as green information system, logistics, marketing, trend of green production, and brand building. The workshops were deliverables of a project on “Brand Development of the Hong Kong Environmental Industry”, which was organised by the Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association Ltd with the support of the FHKI and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with funding from the SME Development Fund of the HKSAR.
