FHKI 60th Anniversary Commemorative Book

Message by Dr Daniel Yip, FHKI Chairman In the 1950s, our predecessors undertook the task of engineering Hong Kong’s post-war industrial construction. During the process they became aware of the need for a non-sectarian federation to protect and promote the young but fast-growing industries, and to represent business views to advise the Government on issues pertinent to economic development, policy and regulatory issues. This year the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), Hong Kong’s only statutory association, celebrates its 60 th birthday. Hong Kong’s success story over the past 60 years has been the envy of the world. When we look back with pride at the achievement of Hong Kong, it is not surprising to find that the growth of the FHKI has been intertwined with Hong Kong’s development all these years. Since its establishment in 1960, the FHKI has taken up the leadership role of guiding the industrial sector deftly towards rapid modernisation, setting long-term goals in productivity, management, design and quality, and addressing the needs for keeping the industries competitive to cope with changes in the business environment and technology advancement. 7 Federation of Hong Kong Industries 60 th Anniversary Commemorative Book
