FHKI 60th Anniversary Commemorative Book

Throughout the process, the FHKI has helped shape not only the course of industrial development of Hong Kong, but also the path of economic excellence and prosperity, enabling the territory to enjoy decades of phenomenal growth and development. Since our entry into the new millennium, we have been facing multifaceted challenges, arising mainly from the restructuring of the global economy and the change in local economic and socio-political settings. We need innovative mindsets to tackle a wide variety of issues ranging from encouraging innovation and technology and nurturing talents, to constructing an enabling operational environment in order to keep pace with the rapidly changing economic, political and social circumstances. While we are devoting our efforts to adjust and steer our transformation process to reposition ourselves, we have been hit hard by internal social unrests in the summer of 2019, followed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in January this year. Laying ahead of us will probably be the worst global economic recession since the Great Depression in the 1930s, and no doubt we will be facing some tough times. Yet we are confident that we will ride out this perilous storm and emerge stronger than before. Over the past six decades, we have overcome various challenges, big and small, with agility, resilience, an excellent business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit and determination. Each time, the FHKI has been a close and staunch partner of the industries and business communities to help explore and identify new growth engines to bring Hong Kong out of the doldrums. As the FHKI embarks on a momentous era in our history, we would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to all the past FHKI leaders who laid a solid foundation for the FHKI’s development. Our gratitude also goes to all members, friends and associates who have extended ardent support and advice to us over the years.
