In industrial manufacturing, such as medical, aerospace, automotive and design industries, 3D printing is mainly used in the initial stage of product development, as well as making samples and models. 3D printing applies to a wide range of products, such as accessories of cars, electronic products and casing of electrical appliances. Recently, some start-ups have even successfully applied 3D printing to creating artificial meat. 3D printing is believed to be more widely used in the future. In the past, it took a long time to produce a tailor-made product. But how long does it take now? 58 seconds. How is it possible? The answer lies in “Industry 4.0”. “Industry 4.0” allows customers to highly interact with the production system through the Internet. For example, a customer can place an order in a mobile phone application, and cloud-connected machines can directly make products that meet the customer’s needs. The emergence of “Industry 4.0” allows manufacturers to produce tailor- made products in a much shorter time. That means “Industry 4.0” not only improves the ability of manufacturers to respond to the market, but also makes it possible to manufacture tailor-made products on a massive scale.
