追求創新「綠綠」無窮 兩家金獎得主東方海外及港機工程向來積極應對 各種環境挑戰，例如：全球暖化、空氣污染、能源消 耗等重要問題，並不斷研發更多創新環保技術，建立 低碳及可持續的營運模式。 在硬件方面，東方海外在船隻設計至船上設計、 配套設施、路線管理等加入各種環保考慮，為貨船安 裝減排環保設備；在軟件方面，他們熱衷於推動數碼 化轉型，運用人工智能、機器學習、物聯網等創新科 技提升航運的營運效率。各項措施不但成功提升海運 業務營運效率，更有效減低船隻燃料消耗。 而港機工程一直致力為航空界帶來更多元化的正 面改革，以成為全球業界帶領者為使命。鄧伙勝表示： 「在研發新項目時，我們除了會考慮成本效益外，更 希望能夠跨越常規，突破傳統界限，把優質及可持續 發展帶到航空界。我們以太古集團根據聯合國《2030 年可持續發展議程》的減碳目標為準，並研究每個目 標對業務的可行性與重要性，採取更完善的方式履行 承諾。」 面對考驗 不忘初心 疫情蔓延全球，海運及航空業界面對前所未有的 嚴峻挑戰，但亦無減兩家公司繼續大力推動及研發新 環保項目。東方海外及港機工程均深信可持續發展項 目是長遠的投資，即使需要額外投放資金、時間和資 源，但環保項目必定能為業務帶來長遠收益增長。 東方海外表示會一如既往竭心盡力回饋社會，在 2030年或之前參與或舉辦至少100項海洋保護與保育 活動及計劃，並於社區開展維護水生生物多樣性的環 保措施。此外，東方海外承諾會善用今次獲獎獎金， 透過各式各樣推廣項目協助社區改善環境並提升環保 意識。 港機工程同樣表示他們推動環保的步伐未有停 止，公司正在積極研究另一嶄新環保項目─由氫氣 驅動飛機牽引車以減低柴油二氧化碳排放。礙於香港 缺乏氫燃料，此項目將由美國分公司做可行性研究。 由此可見，港機工程不但致力保護本地生態環境，亦 努力將環保理念延伸至其他國家及地區。 本年度「中銀香港企業環保領先大獎」兩家金獎公 司都堅信，只要各行各業攜手履行社會責任，積極推 動可持續發展，定能大大減低對環境的污染，擺脫困 境，共建綠色新世界！ Ever More Innovation, Ever Green Environment Both awardees, OOCL and HAECO, have been continuously developing green technologies to establish a low carbon and sustainable operation. This could proactively address various adverse environmental impacts, such as global warming, air pollution, energy consumption and other critical issues. To ensure marine operation efficiency and to reduce fuel consumptions, OOCL has been working on both hardware and software aspects. In terms of hardware, OOCL has taken environmental considerations into both exterior and interior designs of the cargo vessels, sailing routes management and equipped the vessels with advanced green devices to lower energy consumption level. In terms of software, they are keen in pursuing digital transformation such as implementing innovative technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Internet of Things (IoT) to improve the efficiency in shipping and logistics operations. Being the global leader of the aviation industry has always been HAECO’s mission, they aim to bring positive and diverse impact to the environment. “HAECO implements sustainability targets following the Swire Group’s standard and in accordance with the “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030”. When developing new projects, we always look for breakthroughs and innovation, but will not limit ourselves with the cost effectiveness. We also stress the feasibility and importance of each project, to bring high-quality and sustainable development to the industry”, says Mr Tang. Overcoming Challenges Together to Build a Better Future Despite the maritime and aviation industry have been seriously affected due to the pandemic, OOCL and HAECO are both determined in engaging and developing various environmental project. They believe that sustainable development is a long-term and ongoing investment, regardless the additional capital, time and resources required, nevertheless, it will pave a brighter future for the company and community. Moving forward, OOCL will continue its engagement in undertaking the social responsibilities, by participating or organising at least 100 projects on marine protection and conservation projects and implementing environmental measures to protect marine biodiversity in the community by 2030. In addition, OOCL will make good use of the cash prize to enhance public’s awareness and improve the environment by various community projects. HAECO expressed that their environmental project is ever lasting, they have been recently working on a revolutionary project, that is using hydrogen-driven aircraft tractors to reduce the carbon emissions from diesel. However, this project could only start in their branch in the United States, as hydrogen fuel is not available in Hong Kong. HAECO will continue to strive for a sustainable development to protect the environment regardless of geographical boundaries. Both awardees firmly believe that when all industries go hand in hand to fulfil their social responsibilities and promote sustainable development, this could greatly reduce environmental pollution and create a greener world.
