61 香港工業總會年報 2014-15 Group 19: Hong Kong Toys Council (HKTC) With the support of the Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestic Sales (the BUD Fund), the Council together with the FHKI, the Toys Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (TMHK) and the HKTDC co-organised a 20-month programme titled “Exploring Mainland Toy Market for Hong Kong Toy Industry through Design, Upgrading and Branding”. The project, launched in September 2013, covered a series of activities, including workshops, training sessions and seminars covering various practical topics relating to toy distribution channels in the Mainland. Besides, a series of roadshows were also organised in Shanghai, Chengdu, Changsha and Hong Kong to showcase the winning products of “Hong Kong Toy Industry – Practical Platform for Domestic Sales in China” campaign. The project was successfully completed with the publishing of the Domestic Sales Guidebook for Hong Kong Toy Industry which summerises all the insights gained on sales of toys in the Mainland market. Apart from the BUD project, the Council co-organised a licensing seminar in September 2014 in partnership with the HKTDC and the TMHK. The seminar enabled participants to gain a better understanding on how to partner with licensors and brands to increase the value of products and services when entering the Mainland market. In October 2014, the Council together with Aon Hong Kong Limited and the TMHK co-organised a seminar on “Risk Management for Toy Manufacturers” to help members learn more about the legal traps in sales contracts and the appropriate way to manage risks. In November 2014, the Council organised a seminar on “Toy Safety” to brief toy industry players on the latest US toy safety standards, testing and conformance requirements to facilitate their expert activities. The Council’s annual flagship event, the seventh Annual Dinner of Hong Kong Toy Industry co-organised with the TMHK was held in December 2014. Raymond Tam, Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs was the guest-of-honour and over 750 guests attended the dinner.
