57 香港工業總會年報 2014-15 Group 14: Hong Kong Mould &Die Council (HKMDC) Under the leadership of Council Chairman Dr Jack Yeung and Vice-Chairman Colman Wong, the HKMDC endeavours to assist members in tapping business opportunities in the Mainland and European markets. The Council also organised cross-industry events to help members expand their business networks. In April 2014, with the support of the BUD Fund, the HKMDC presented a Hong Kong Pavilion at the Die and Mould Zone of Chinaplas 2014, to showcase the excellence, professionalism and creativity of Hong Kong mould practitioners to potential buyers. Apart from targeting at the Mainland market, the HKMDC again joined hands with the HKTDC in 2014 to set up a Hong Kong Gallery at the Fakuma Plastics Show in Europe in October. The Show not only provided a good opportunity for members to keep themselves abreast of the latest technology, but also allowed them to tap on potentials in the European market and further develop their networks. The HKMDC organised three factory visits from April to June 2014. In April, the HKMDC and Group 19 (Hong Kong Toys Council) co-organised a visit to EVA Precision Industrial Holdings Ltd and Wynnewood Corporation Ltd. In May, a visit was paid to the Shenzhen plant of Foxconn Technology Group while the third visit was co-organised with Group 7 (Fabricated metal products and iron, steel and non- ferrous metal basic industries and machinery) in June, to Shing Hing Industrial Ltd and Providence Enterprise Ltd. Members were impressed by the modern facilities in these factories, including automated equipment, robotics and advanced mold design systems. In July 2014, HKMDC Chairman Dr Jack Yeung led a 20-member delegation to South Korea. Delegates visited a precision plastics mould company Keonwoo Precision Co Ltd, an automotive die-casting enterprise TLTEK Co Ltd and a hot runner systemmanufacturing company Yudo Co Ltd. The mission provided members a useful overview of South Korea’s industrial development and allowed them to exchange views with Korea’s mould industry players. The HKMDC celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2014 by staging the 25 th anniversary dinner in November. The dinner was co-organised with Hong Kong Plastics Manufacturers Association, which was also celebrating its Silver Jubilee. Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So was the guest-of-honour who presented the Hong Kong Mould & Die Industry Distinguished Achievement Award to four outstanding industry leaders in the industry.
