22 FHKI Annual Report 2014-15 Operational Review 工作回顧 In 2014-2015, the PRD Council (PRDC), chaired by FHKI Deputy Chairman Willy Lin, organised/ co-organised 97 activities including seminars, visits, study missions and networking gatherings to cater members’ needs and reflect their concerns on different Mainland issues and policies. Separately, the Mainland Affairs Committee (MAC), chaired by Dr John Chan, focuses its efforts on liaison with Mainland cities outside the PRD. MAC received around 20 visiting delegations from various provinces and participated in over 40 economic and trade related activities to foster cooperation between Hong Kong and Mainland business communities. Strengthening B2G Links Leveraging on the good connections built up with the Mainland authorities at all levels, FHKI and PRDC embarked on a number of missions to the Mainland during the year. They also received senior visitors from the PRD. • June 2014: FHKI Chairman Stanley Lau and Deputy Chairman cum PRDC Chairman Willy Lin led a delegation to visit Huizhou Government. • August 2014: Guangdong Provincial Government’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office Director Liao Jingshan and Deputy Director Lee Yangchun visited FHKI. Views on how to enhance communications and strengthen cooperation were exchanged at the meeting. • September 2014: Mainland proposed to include certain items related to stainless steel and fur raw materials in the list of prohibited imports and exports for the purpose of processing trade have drawn considerable concerns amongst members in the relevant sectors. In response, FHKI Chairman Stanley Lau led members of the metal and fur industries to visit Beijing and meet with officials of the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Finance and the General Administration of Customs to reflect their views on the policy. In October Chairman Lau led another follow-up visit to Guangdong Sub-Administration of China Customs to further present the difficulties faced by the two industries.
