Annual Report 2014-15

16 FHKI Annual Report 2014-15 With the sustained efforts of the General Committee and the unfailing support of members, the FHKI continues to serve as the voice of the industries. Through close dialogue with senior government officials in Hong Kong and the Mainland, the FHKI has helped shape policies pertinent to economic development in Hong Kong, as well as operation of Hong Kong manufacturing enterprises in the Mainland. Dialoguewith Political Leaders The FHKI invited the Chief Executive, policy secretaries and heads of departments to attend various functions and consultation meetings during the course of the year to reflect the industrial sector’s views. We firmly believe that maintenance of political stability and a free and favourable business environment are vital in sustaining Hong Kong’s competitiveness, and economic progress is a prerequisite for improving people’s livelihood. Different policy areas should be well-coordinated to broaden Hong Kong’s economic base. We conveyed our views to the Government during the consultation on the Policy Address and Budget in 2014. We continued to raise concern about the risks of Hong Kong’s over-reliance on a few economic sectors, and we called for the following improvements: • A long-term industrial policy should be formulated to nurture more high value-added and technology-based local industries to drive Hong Kong’s economic development; • Support measures should be put in place to help traditional industries move up the value chain through R&D, technological application, design and branding; • Continued and enhanced support should be given for SMEs which employ 50 per cent of the private sector workforce; Advocacy for the Industries 為工業界發聲 Operational Review 工作回顧 Senior government officials attended the 54 th FHKI AGM Dinner. 一眾主要官員出席工總第54屆會員周年大會晚宴。 FHKI Chairman Stanley Lau reflected the views of the industrial sector to Chief Executive C Y Leung (left). 工總主席劉展灝向特首梁振英(左)反映工業界意見。
